From Feral to Fabulous: The Journey of Parrot, a Rescue in the Making

I stepped out of my comfort zone and into a new challenge that I felt compelled to take on. I visited Pinal County Animal Control to pull a special dog who was on the euthanasia list due to her feral nature and the shelter's lack of space. Her photo caught my eye, and I knew I had to step in to help her.

Meet Parrot—a name she carries for now, as she embarks on her journey to transformation. This brave pup, along with her brother, was brought in together. While her brother is friendly and open to receiving treats and affection, Parrot is a bit of a different story. She’s barrier reactive, meaning she’s wary of new experiences and people, and will only take treats from a distance. She’s not yet comfortable with being touched or having a leash put on her, let alone going for walks.

But here’s the thing: Parrot's story doesn’t end with her current fears and challenges. My mission is to train and socialize her so she can become adoptable and find her forever home. It’s going to be a journey filled with patience and dedication, but helping Parrot overcome her obstacles is a challenge I’m ready to embrace.
